6 Meters Open for Business!

Have you been on 6 Meters lately? If not you should. Over this past weekend Tom N9LJY alerted me (N9ABF) that there were 59+ signals on 50.125 USB. He was right and I had a solid contact with W3XO Bill in KERRVILLE TX.  We talked for about 20 minutes about the recent and frequent openings on 6 "The Magic Band". He also explained what SMIRK "Six Meter International Radio Klub" (yes, club with a K)  was as there were many exchanges on frequency that sounded like a contest. SMIRK is very similar to 10-10 International in promoting 6 Meters. See, you learn something new every day!  Hopefully these band openings will keep happening through Field Day!  Check out SMIRK at  www.smirk.org.

The K9BAR 220 and 440 repeaters are off the air until we can get them to a new location as discussed at our April 19th Meeting. Until we get them repaired/replaced and relocated, Club Members can use the Andrew Repeater (KB9KV) 443.2250 + PL 141.3 as well as the Bolingbrook Village Repeaters (W9BBK).
