  Club DUES are are due!!!

Please see the new fee structure on our Membership page.

The new fee structure has been changed mainly due to not having a Hamfest and inflation. Remember, there has NOT been an increase in dues for over 20 years! Please download and print out the new membership form from our Membership Page and bring it to the next BARS Meeting so we can update our records. Our PayPal Online Dues payment has been taken offline to update the new fee structure.

This new fee structure was discussed at our January 2010 Meeting and was effective August 1, 2010.

Our BARS 224.540 Repeater is up and running!

Get Ready For BARS 220!

The repeater is on 224.540 - offset and a PL of 110.9 Hz. The new repeater was installed on Wednesday March 31, 2010 after 23+ years of service from our Kendecom 220 Repeater. The new Hamtronics 220 Repeater will run in QRP mode (10 watts) for several weeks until we install the 100 watt amplifier. We want to make sure there are no other problems before we install the repeater amplifier. Several BARS Members have purchased these radios (N9ABF, WA9IL and KC9NWE) and are very pleased with the features and durability for the price. Check out this source found by John, WA9IL.

Boy Scouts will be having the 53rd National Jamboree on Oct 16th and 17th,
This Jamboree (JOTA) will be on the air. More than 500,000 scouts in 100
countries will participate. I am an assistant Cub Scout leader and
would like to see if we could participate in this event.Since I know
very little about amateur radio and a lot of you do, I am looking for
someone in the SW Suburbs or West Suburbs that can help us with this.
Details are available at
http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/international/programenrichment/jota_joti.aspx

Roger

If there are any clubs in the noted Chicago suburbs who might want to
help Roger out directly, please contact him at his Yahoo email address.
Also be aware that JOTA is a world-wide endeavor, and a troop or pack
near you might not even know of this event if you don't approach and
assist them.
