BARS & FRRL General Class License Course

The Bolingbrook Amateur Radio Society (BARS) is once again joining together with the Fox River Radio League (FRRL) in affiliation with the Northern IL Amateur Radio Training & Testing group to presnt a NEW –  Amateur Radio Extra Class License education course in early 2019.

This is a FREE 10 week course.  Where you will learn everything you need to upgrade your Amateur (Ham) Radio license to a Extra Class FCC radio license.

This class is designed for people already involved the Amateur Radio hobby with a General Class license who are interested in upgrading to an Extra Class license and get more involved in the world of the Amateur Radio.  Although it helps to have an Amateur Radio General, or Technician Class License already, it is not mandatory to just attend  this course.  (However to test - you will need to take and pass the Technician Class, and General Class license Exams prior to testing for your Extra Class license exam).  There is no age limit to class attendance.  There is only the need of interest in the Amateur Radio hobby, and a willingness to learn, attend the classes, and study.

In class, be prepared for interactive group participation, independent reading and interactive web tools study. There will be a VE Test Exam on the last (10th) week of the course.   But not to fret, if you attend the Saturday classes, and study, the Extra course iteslf provides you with the knowledge and information you’ll need to pass the 50 question exam.   ANYONE is invited to join the course or “sit in” as a refresher.  So, if you’ve wanted to upgrade your license to an Extra Class License – Now is the time to do it!

The textbook for the class will be the ARRLExtra Class License Manual, 11th Edition.   Be sure you have a copy before the class.   Books can be purchased online through www.arrl.org, or other online sources such as Amazon, and Kindle.  Additional study material may be given to you at the classes.  After receiving your ARRL Extra Class License Manual textbook, be sure to review the book and read the first chapter.  To be ready to dive into learning at the first class and to ask questions.
